Success in New Zealand

The Los Angeles Galaxy wrapped up its down under tour with a 4-1 win over the Wellington Phoenix. The sellout crowd of 35,000 was the largest to ever view a soccer match in New Zealand.

As expected, David Beckham played all 90 minutes of the match even though he was suffering from bronchitis. Beckham played brilliantly, scoring LA's opening goal and assisting on the three others.

Beckham's appearance in New Zealand went as well as planned. A large crowd turned out at the airport to welcome him, and record crowds turned out for training sessions and the actual match. Beckham's appearance managed to draw fans interest away from the much more popular rugby, at least during his stay.
